McKenzie River is one of Oregon's premier trout fisheries, located in the Willamette Valley region. The river is well known for producing quality Rainbow Trout and Cutthroat Trout, drawing anglers from across the country throughout the season.
Fishing on McKenzie River varies significantly by season. Spring runoff typically peaks between April and June, with conditions improving as flows stabilize. Summer offers excellent dry fly opportunities during morning and evening hours. Fall is prime time for larger fish as brown trout move into spawning mode. Winter fishing can be exceptional during midday midge hatches.
