A Section — Flaming Gorge
The A Section immediately below Flaming Gorge Dam is Utah's most productive trout fishery with extraordinary populations of brown and rainbow trout in rich tailwater. Fish averaging 16-20 inches are common with many fish exceeding 24 inches. Midge and sowbug patterns dominate year-round in this exceptional fishery.

B Section
The B Section of the Green River tailwater extends downstream from Little Hole and maintains excellent trout populations. Brown trout dominate this section with fish averaging slightly larger than the A Section. Evening pale morning dun and caddis hatches produce outstanding dry fly action from June through September.
💧 Ideal flow: 1,000–2,500 CFS. The B Section fishes best at moderate flows — a mix of wade and float fishing through the red rock canyon.

C Section
The most remote section of the Green River tailwater the C Section requires a float from Little Hole or a long hike. Wild brown trout here see less fishing pressure and are more willing than fish in the A and B sections. The canyon scenery in this stretch is the most dramatic on the entire river.
💧 Ideal flow: 1,500–3,000 CFS. The C Section is broader and best floated at moderate flows — large browns hold in the deep runs.

Little Hole
Little Hole access area is the primary put-in for float trips on the Green River and one of the most productive wade fishing locations on the entire system. The pools surrounding Little Hole hold exceptional concentrations of large brown trout year-round. This is the most popular single access point on the Green River tailwater.
💧 Ideal flow: 800–2,000 CFS. Little Hole area is the most accessible entry point — moderate flows allow good wade fishing below the dam.

Brown's Park
Below the tailwater near Brown's Park the Green transitions to a slower bigger water fishery. Brown trout still inhabit this section but the character changes dramatically from the tailwater above. This section is best fished by float fishing anglers comfortable with big water.
💧 Ideal flow: 1,000–2,500 CFS. Fishes best at stable consistent flows from Flaming Gorge Dam — check TroutBible gauge before heading out.

The abundant aquatic insect populations and ideal water temperatures create excellent conditions for consistent dry fly and nymph fishing throughout the year.
