Poudre Canyon Wild and Scenic
The Cache la Poudre through Poudre Canyon is Colorado's only designated Wild and Scenic River offering excellent brown and rainbow trout fishing in a spectacular canyon. The river drops through multiple gorge sections creating diverse habitat. Caddis and golden stonefly hatches are exceptional in late spring.
💧 Ideal flow: 100–300 CFS. The upper canyon fishes best at moderate flows after spring runoff. High spring flows can blow out the canyon for weeks.
South Fork Confluence
Where the South Fork joins the main Poudre creates excellent holding water that concentrates fish from both drainages. Large brown trout stage here especially in fall. The area around the confluence has produced some of the river's largest recorded trout.
💧 Ideal flow: 80–250 CFS. The Wild and Scenic section fishes best at moderate to low flows with good roadside access along Highway 14.
Rustic Area
The Poudre near Rustic flows through a wider valley section with extensive public access and good populations of wild browns and rainbows. Attractor dry flies work well here in summer with less technical demands than canyon sections. Multiple campgrounds nearby make this an ideal base camp.

Lincoln Bridge Fort Collins
